The ‘Rione Giallo’ (Yellow District) is the district of ‘Porta Ponte’, a real city fortification almost thirty meters high that welcomed visitors from the Borgo Durbecco, then demolished in the mid-nineteenth century. In the district emblem the tower is surrounded by two orders of Guelph merlons, and from the beginning it is clear the connection of the Rione Giallo with the house of Manfredi, lords of Faenza and supporters of the pontiff. One of the symbols of the Manfredi, the mythological leocorn with the body of a lion and the head of a goat (an undertaking of Carlo II Manfredi), we find it also in the historical parade of the ‘Rione Giallo’, carried by a page that precedes Capo Rione (head of the district). In addition to the most important family of the city, which had gradually conquered a series of towers and castles throughout the Val di Lamone, in the Rione Giallo there were other notables of the city: Ragnoli, Baroncini, Viarani and Negusanti, a family giving the born to Sant’Umilt\u00e0.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not far from the current convent of the order of the nuns linked to Sant’Umilt\u00e0, we find today the current headquarters of the Rione. It hosts a library, named after the Faenza poet Angelo Lapi, whose curators, as well as collecting texts and documents that deal with Renaissance history and, more specifically, Faenza, organize a series of conferences each year on different topics that are open to all citizens, members and non-members.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t
